I recently completed my training to become an Accredited Guide for Glasgow 2014.
This is the Commonwealth Games which are being held in the city in July and August 2014.
The Venues for the events are in 3 main clusters in the City.
The East End with Celtic Park which will host the Opening Ceremony. Across the road is the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and the National Indoor Sports Arena. Close by the Athletes Village is being built with accommodation for
6,500 competitors and Officials. A New National Hockey Centre is also being built on Glasgow Green.
In the West End the SECC and Clyde Auditorium( The Armadillo) will host events whilst the National Arena is taking shape and will host concerts prior to the Games.
Also in the west of the City Lawn Balls will be played at Kelvingrove Park and Scotstoun Sports Centre will host Squash and Table Tennis.
The South side of the city will be involved too with Hampden Park being used for Athletics and the Closing Ceremony.Ibrox Park will be used for Rugby 7's and Cathkin Braes will see Mountain Bike races.
Outside the City the Triathlon will be held at Strathclyde Country Park. The Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh will host the Diving competitions and Barry Buddon Ranges near Carnoustie will host the shooting.
It's a very exciting time for the City and with new hotels in the pipeline there should be over 14,000 beds available to spectators.
I'm very much looking forward to the Event which includes
Para Games at the same time.
